Windows 10 is now powering over 1 billion monthly active devices

Windows 10 is now running at more than 1 billion monthly active devices, only six months after passing the milestone of 900 million devices. Microsoft has consistently added 100 million active Windows 10 devices every six months during the last two years. Windows 10 also passed the 50% share of the desktop market in August.

The milestone is notable because Microsoft originally aimed to hit 1 billion devices running Windows 10 "in two to three years". A year on, the company backpedaled on the purpose that after it became clear that Windows 10 Mobile is a failure. (Android has more than 2.5 billion monthly active devices.)
